Trillium erectum (Red trillium) is a slow growing species that grows on the forest floor. They are often found in small clumps due to their dispersal by ants and propagation by rhizome. They can take up to 15 years before producing flowers and can live over 30 years.

Other trilliums: Red trillium, White trillium, Painted trillium and Nodding trillium when I can find it.
